Defy Wrestling Announce “Wild Ones,” featuring Jon Moxley

Defy Wrestling Announce “Wild Ones,” featuring Jon Moxley post thumbnail image

Independent Wrestling stalwarts Defy Wrestling dropped an absolute bomb on us this week, unleashing the poster for their next event ” Wild Ones,” with some very familiar and intriguing faces on it:

  1. Jon Moxley
  2. Shane “SW3RVE” Strickland
  3. Tom Lawlor

Confirmed match #1: Jon Moxley vs Tom Lawlor

Jon Moxley
Tom Lawlor

This marks the lunatic from Cincinnati’s first return to Defy, since defeating Schaff at the “Mad Kingdom” show in September of 2021. The matchup is no stat padder in “Filthy” Tom Lawlor, who is a former UFC fighter, and Major League Wrestling standout. Between these two deranged and charismatic showstoppers, we are guaranteed a match that will have us standing from our seats in the venue or pacing our living rooms watching at home.

Shane “S3RVE” Strickland

What’s in store for Shane Strickland, is still unknown. The current AEW and former NXT star made his presence felt in his last appearance in Defy, defeating Nick Wayne in an all-gas 24 minute match. The match was a memorable one for Wayne as well, as AEW pillar Darby Allin , who also beat Strickland early in 2019 in Defy, swooped in from the shadows and extended Wayne an AEW contract. His last match against Ricky Starks on AEW Rampage was an absolute gem, one in which I feel ended up elevating both wrestlers popularity, and I can’t wait to see what Defy has in store for him.

Steve Migs, calling out El Phantasmo

Confirmed Match #2: Steve Migs vs El Phantasmo

Talk about one you didn’t see coming. DEFY ring announcer, and radio personality Steve Migs, took to the internet to call out El Phantasmo at “Wild Ones.’ As you can see in this promo, in which Steve impressed the hell out of me, he’s made it very clear he’s out for blood to get revenge on El P. Phantasmo has sustained one of the busiest wrestling schedules in the world today, already performing 23 times in NJPW, so Steve may be biting off more than he can chew. As you can see in the video, his physique, which you can’t prove to me is 47 years old, is prime for the fight, so the Bullet Club high-flyer better not expect this to be a slap fight.

Those are the confirmed matches and appearances. Adam Brooks DID have something to say on Twitter, however…

That is what we know so far, about “Wild Ones.” I will update the matches/appearances as they are confirmed.

You never know who will show up in DEFY, as in the past year, AEW stars Eddie Kingston, Wheeler Yuta, Brody King, have put their talents on display, as well as Indie stars Allie Katch, Lio Rush, Blake Christian, Nick Wayne, and Homicide.

Pre-Sale Tickets for the event go on sale tomorrow, 3/31, at 1pm PST for Patreon members. General ticket sales to follow.
